Cat Jams - Screen Printed DVDsby ~scumbugg

Traditional Art / Printing / Silk Screen

This is my piece "Blanche" , personally screen printed onto dvds for Cat Jams label. The one that looks like black on white is actually black ink on glow in the dark. I wish I could have gotten a picture of it glowing in action, but my camera only likes taking pictures with the flash on.

what kind of ink did you use to print on the DVDs? never seen anyone screeprint on them before, cool idea!

water based aerotex screen printing ink. the glow in the dark ink was actually glow in the dark acrylic paint, which seemed to work nearly as well as screen printing ink. it did however have a tendency to dry into the mesh after about 13 prints, and had a somewhat bubbly texture.

yeah, i thought this was a cool idea as well! ive never printed on dvds or cds before, so i had to rig up a special way to hold the dvds down, without using spray glue. (like you would on t shirts)

yeah! actually i though of your glow in the dark piece while i was trying to take a picture of my own. i was wondering how you did that...?

how did i take the picture? i just turned off the lights and the flash on the camera and took the picture, haha. the camera i used had a fairly fast shutterspeed though.

yeah, the idea just kinda hit me and i did it on a whim. i love when stuff like that just works out.
