Terrors of the Deep by scumbugg Terrors of the Deep by scumbugg
I started this one bored at my mom's house on Thanksgiving. It started as one simple Angler fish and grew into what you see now. It glows in the dark. Seriously.

Edit: I changed the background up a bit. I like this one alot more, even if it is kinda Matrixy. Also trying the beef up my 11x7 sized works, for printing purposes.

Those angler fish, and the skull, are very very good :)
I like the old fashioned diving helmet idea. It really adds to the creepiness.

I've always been fascinated by deep sea creatures, especially living in the center of the USA. Boy would this make a sweet back-piece for a hardcore diver!

I really would buy the shirt, but I wish it was still the same design here. Either way, I'll probably quit whining and buy one in the near future. It's a pretty rad design :D

thanks! yeah, i was originally going to print it like this, but stupid me, saved the file wrong. i lost the layers, and id have to re-separate them all. i think that glow in the dark ink is a nice consolation prize though...

It is indeed lol. Once I've got the cash, I'm pretty certain I'll spring for one. I just happen to be a broke college student at the moment lol. Do you have a good supply of them?

I love the angler fish. Over all I'm pretty much at a loss on what to say. Other than me saying that your work is fucktasticly orgasmic. You got one hell of a crisp style...If I were to gets me a tattoo I would be lookin' for you. :D

honestly, im not sure. all of the lines are done with pencil and pen, but all of the colors are done with photoshop. i geuss i feel that it fits more into the traditional category because i think that even without the colors, the linework stands well on its own. also, i think spend more time on the linework. i do have alot of artwork like this, and i pause everytime before i put it in the traditional category. anyway, thanks for the positive feedback, im glad you like it!

+if you feel the linework stands out against the digital coloring, then it is where it belongs. i did check out your other works, and the quality is consistent
actually, imagining it wothout the colors does the trick: the stuff is good enough on its own :)
it's just that you can get that line quality digitally (technically speaking), so i just had to make sure. good work :D +

me again. actually my only thing is that i wish the angler fish weren't identical mirror images. it'd be cool if you drew two different fish, while keeping them exactly the same as far as species and pose and form go, but their linework and teeth would be just different enough from being two separate drawings. that would be sweet.

yeah i woyuld screen it myself. i really like the color scheme i got going on in this picture, but it wouldnt really work with the screen-printing press i have. either way, ill probly have to do some ink mixing.

what kind of press do you have? you could probably get away with 3 spot colors plus an underlay...
